It has been quite cold for Florida so there is no sign of the Monarch emerging yet. The chrysalis just hangs there, swinging every time I go through the door. I put a cloth over it so it is protected. I read that scientists do not know why there is gold on the green chrysalis but I am thinking that maybe it is part of the bitterness that develops in the Monarch that is so distasteful to predators. Maybe it is also bitter and therefore left alone.
