It's those little things that mean a lot. Today I heard our first RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD returning to Volo Bog State Natural Area. I've been hearing other Chicago-area birders mentioning their first RWBB for the last couple of weeks so was surprised that it took so long for them to reach the far northern stretches. This is always my favorite harbinger of spring! Maybe it is a sign of other good things to come to us.
