Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/05/2005

Number: 1

Wandering my garden, I noticed a plant completely void of leaves. When I looked closer, I noticed 8 monarch larva on adjacent plants. I moved the larva over to a neighboring milkweed. (I had forgotten I planted the milkweed last fall.) One of the larva is a 3rd instar, 4 appear to be second instar and the last seems to be a 1st instar. There are also numerous eggs on the remaining milkweed. I don't know if there is enough foliage to support all of the larva so I may buy some plants and put them out nearby.
