My students deadheaded the milkweed growing in our school butterfly garden January 21, 2005. We began to see our first leaves some 14 days later. We began to water and they began to grow. Kids have been amazed that plant would come back out.

Container grown milkweed was not long after that. we forgot to deadhead it so it grew from the top of stems.
