Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 03/09/2005

Number: 1

I had anticipated the arrival of robins for the last couple of weeks but I
looked everywhere without success. This morning I had just made breakfast
and my wife came into the kitchen. And when I turned
around to look at her I saw a robin over her shoulder. The robin was
standing on a branch in apple tree beside our deck. I said, "There's a
robin." And she turned around and agreed ... yes ... the first robin of the
year. It was a male ... dark orange breast, dark slate back. We looked
around for other robins but the only other birds about were House finches
and House sparrows. After about five minutes the robin was off. I hadn't
seen the robin before I had seen it in the apple tree but the tree is right
beside our bird bath so I suspect he had landed for a drink after flying all
night.
