All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/04/2005

Number: 1

My breeding Eastern Phoebe has returned. She appears to be alone and constantly calling for a mate but no others have arrived yet. She broods 2 to 3 nests each year. Next door neighbor usually has Phoebes nesting, too, but hasn't spotted her's yet.
Bluebirds are nesting and carrying the pet hair that I leave out for them into the bluebird boxes. Soon I expect them to have eggs in the boxes.
No sightings of purple martins which have been seen as early as February in past years.
