Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/07/2005

Number: 1

Our first red-winged blackbird was a male and seen on Monday March 7,
2005. He came to the feeder with corn and black sunflower seed about 800
hours. The weather was partly sunny with temperatures above zero C. Not
seen on the 8th but was seen again on the 9th. This is about a week
later than we normally see them as often it is the 1st or 2nd of March.
We do have red-wings nesting on the property as there is both a pond and
creek with cat-tails. (no robins as yet)
