All Other Signs of Spring

3" of snow last nite, more expected from an "Alberta Clipper." Thought I heard a robin, but it was one of the overwintering bluebirds, they sometimes sound like a robin with a head cold. Very foggy this morning, floated in the hot tub watching a hungry horde of cedar waxwings gobble fruit off the Dortheia Crabapple. Like trying to eat an apple on a string with your hands behind your back. They open wide & often swallow a whole fruit. Then they sort of shiver and fly to the willow to sun for about 10 minutes. Imagine what a quart of ice cream swallowed whole would feel like? Sizewise that isn't accurate - 2 quarts? What a shock to the digestive system! Then they repeat! Fruit fueled flight! Homely old tree is pretty with their olive colors, usually the only other time is when it is a flower garland of blooms. Around the house bird activity has really picked up, red winged blackbirds, lots of woodpeckers, titmice, chickadees, crows, bluebirds and the cardinals are singing non-stop!
