Today we saw a large number of Tundra Swans within the Park, in the Sanctuary Pond area. I would
estimate a couple of thousand swans could be seen from the Marsh Boardwalk tower. Sanctuary pond
is frozen but the edge of the pond to the east is open and that's where the swans were, Lake Pond.
Tundra Swans were also seen in large numbers, in the late afternoon, north of the Park in the
Hillman Marsh area flying to the south, possibly to the Lake Pond area. I estimate over 500 were
seen flying south around 4:30-5pm. A really beautiful sight.
