I have nearly 100 containers of perennials and annuals wintersown outside in containers and today I decided to check on them. I discovered that my first container of native Eastern Columbine (Aquilegia Canadensis) has germinated even though our temps are still in the 20's during the day. I decided to check out my previous years perennials. I have tulips emerging along with daylilies, alliums, hellebores, and one hosta that is pushing up through the still frozen bed. My weigelia shrub and one of the cuttings that I took last spring are both budding out. I think spring here in the frozen northeast is on its way.
