Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/24/2005

Number: 1

The male
red wing blackbirds were here to greet us with their lovely calls. They
usually arrive around the middle of February. Three males appear to be
making our natural pond home this spring, which is about the average number
of males for this pond. The first female showed up at my feeder on March
9th, which is a bit early and so far she is the only one I have seen. The
weather has cooled down considerably and the pond has ice on it so they are
spending more time at the feeder.
