There has been another interesting phenomenon in the
California area this spring-the Painted Lady
migration! (Vanessa Cardui) I don't know if Journey
North is interested in this but every ten years or so
there is a massive Painted Lady butterfly migration
due to the rains.We have been seeing record numbers of
these darling little butterflies flying northwards
(sometimes a bit north-west) coming up from Mexico.
There is a lot of Malva neglecta sprouting up from the
strange rains we've had. There are many of these
butterflies being seen in the desert regions of
California as well.
