Our first killdeer of the season sat taking in the sunset from the middle of our banked driveway. Tonite, their are killdeer voices echoing in the dark. Odd birds, full moon nights have them whirling around yelling all night. Not always popular with the light sleepers of the family! I do love their fiery red eyes, they remind me of loons who also have such beautiful ruby eyes. Soon I will be watching for eggs in the lawn or garden edge while the mother drags herself about pitifully, trying to distract me on our huge mower.
