The swans were everywhere, more than 10,000 in the fields & in the air all day .Just to hear ther calls was worth the trip.
Altogether counting any bird at least one participant saw , we tallied 58 species on the day.
Highlights: golden eagle ( seen sitting in a tree & then flying, south of Concession# 2 , 2 km west of Hwy#59 ), two groups of sandhill cranes in among the swans in the corn fields on the north side of Front Rd. west of Hwy#59 , a screech owl at Big Creek on the "A" Concession, 2 adult bald eagles, a green-wing teal at Silver Lake in Port Dover , white-crownded sparrow in Fisher's Glen . There were a surprising number of waterfowl considering the lack of open water & the cold weather this month.
