Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/23/2005

Number: 1

We had rain yesterday with more
expected late today or tonight. The air was damp and cool, the sky
blue in patches with heavy cloud cover. In fifteen
minutes, surprisingly, I saw maybe six Painted Ladies
go over. NOTE: we have been in this house since 1990,
and this is the first time I have ever noted the
Painted Lady migration. I don't believe that they
have gone over our house in the past. I don't yet
understand the mechanism that causes them to continue
to migrate within this corridor here in our San
Gabriel Valley.
