On Sunday evening i was feeding my dogs & i heard the calls of sandhill cranes as i looked to the sky & listened i spotted a pair of cranes flying low , they were still calling as they flew nw i believe they were getting searching for a place to roost for the night i live about a 1/4 of a mile from wooded state land which includes river drainage & swamp & ponds & marshes. Now every evening since i've heard them & seen them going in the same direction i haven't located where they roost because the trails in the woods are not passable with a vehicle due to the snow melting & surface water. i am very excited about their arrival but unsure of what they are feeding on as we still have quite a bit of snow on the ground and some of the creeks & streams are still frozen, hopefully they have found open areas to feed on.
