I reside in orange county, CA. Irvine is approximately, 45 minutes to an hour from San Diego. Today I experienced millions of butterflies migrating north. It was a natural phenomenon. Initially, I wasn't sure what was happening. The swarm completely concencentrated the air. It was like the movie the "Birds". Many people pulled over on the side of the road in disbeleif and amazement. I then travelled 37 miles north east to the city of Chino Hills to attend a wedding. Four hours later, the speed, concentration, quantity of the beautiful creatures had not deminished. I would like to obtain more information on the various Butterfly migration patterns, life span, eating habits etc. It is my understanding that many on that journey will perish. However, along the way the continued to lay eggs and we can anticipate that another migration will occur in April.
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide. I simply wanted to give my testimony on today's event. I am a 29 year old
