Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/25/2005

Number: 1

Friday 3-25-2005 I was bird watching at Emma Long City Park. I
was on the Shoreline Trail which is at the end of the paved road which
runs through the camping area.
The time was between 1:30 PM and 5PM.
I saw the 4 different monarch along this trail. The Buckeye trees and
the Baby Blue eyes were in bloom.
These were not the same monarch going up and down the trail. They
were noticeably different.

  • A) Was very, very worn and a little tattered with a chunk out of it's
    wing. The color was faded.

  • B) Was worn and a little tattered, but no chunk out of the wing. The
wing color had faded like an old monarch.

  • C) & D) Were fresher with still good color, but not fresh. I don't
think these were the same butterfly, but they might have been. They were at different ends of the trail

I thought since it was still so early in the season you might especially want to know about the older monarchs.
