Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/01/2005

Number: 1

i've never seen a butterfly migration before. that day i went out of the house to sit in the back yard for a while -- it was so sunny and beautiful. and then i started noticing all these butterflies flying over our property. mostly in close groups of three to six or seven. and it was a pretty constant thing and it went on for hours. it was amazing. me and my daughters walked out of the yard and followed the route down the block. there were hundreds following this northern path -- none of them stopping or casually fluttering around flowers like other butterflies do. they were flying so low at time they almost touched our heads. i could see they were orange and black like a monarch. i began looking info up on the internet when i came across your site. great site!!! anyhow, it was so exciting to see this. today,(April 5) i saw only a few butterflies heading along the same path. only about 7 to 10 a minute.
