Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/28/2005

Number: 1

I am beginning to see monarchs on Fort Hood (the Bell county portion). This past week,(Note: Estimating date as March 28th.)
I have seen about 7-8 most were using powered flight just above the forest canopy on mesa tops, a few were gliding a little higher. It seems that I have seen more E. tiger swallowtails and spicebush swallowtails than monarchs this year. I will be on the Coryell co. side of Fort Hood today, so I will keep my eyes open. I'll send you a weekly sighting report until it seems the push through the base has slowed.
