The weather front has passed and we are welcoming the next wave of migrators to rural Madoc. This morning, at 6:30 daylight saving time, our first great blue heron was seen taking off from the pond. As well, a flock of juncos arrived this morning to brighten up my day. I am still listening for the sound of the phoebe. As the snow melted off my garden on the south side of the house, three purple crocuses opened up! There have been many large flocks of geese heading north this past week.
Oh yes- and the sap ran its best today- last night the temperature dropped below zero and this morning the sun came out and gave us a bright warm (and fly-filled) day. We have four barrels of sap to reduce tonight.
