Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/05/2005

Number: 1

I was so excited to actually submit a sighting since I hadn't seen any monarchs in my area until yesterday.

I was outside in my backyard filling bird feeders when I saw a shadow of something winged fly over me. I looked up to see a very large and beautiful monarch flying against the very strong 30 mph winds. It was a partly sunny day, 84 F degrees. The monarch struggled, but managed to catch a gust and ride it up and over my house roof northward and out of view. It was so exciting.
