Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/09/2005

Number: 1

Saw one large adult - Weather is sunny and warm, about 75 degrees. I previously lived by Natural Bridges in CA so I know how to identify this butterfly. (The Viceroy has more white, and a black strip across the bottom of the wings. :) The monarch was all alone, which is unusual and it also was large, about 2 inches maybe less. Hard to remember for sure. It landed on the grass in front of me and stayed for a little while, resting I assume, so I was able to get a very good look. I have not seen any others, so maybe this one was blown off course.
