I really can't believe it.
The first Robin sighted and he was feeding under MY feeders. I am honored!
I thought I heard him singing yesterday!
According to our records he's a wee bit early. Last year our first Robin was sighted April 12. In 2003 the first was sighted April 17 and in 2002 May 2. Our weather has been warm the last few days but not enough to justify the mean temp theory of Robin migration.
Our wintering White-Crowned Sparrow youngster is now sporting a whitening striped cap. It will be awhile before his girl friends arrive. He spent a lonely winter being the only one of his breed at my feeders.
We still have Snow Buntings bustling about but they seemed to be a "thinner" flock than the charmers that were busy here for the last couple of weeks.
Still no Bald Eagles, odd about that as they're usually our first spring returning residents. Maybe they were the ones off fighting in the streets of some city this weekend....
