Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/13/2005

Number: 1

I was out of town from 23 march until 9 April.
During that time my female RuHu left after arriving 10/15/05 as a hatch yr bird.
She has a pretty "bracelet" thanks to Susan Campbell who banded her on Oct 20.
On April 11 I put out 3 more feeders for a total of 5 and saw 12 males at once just before dark.
On April 14, around 10 AM, I saw my first hen when she flew to a spot where i usually have a feeder up.
I quickly put one out and watched her move from pine tree to feeder to another tree to feeder hopefully looking for a nest site...she may already have one!
The males have been showing off with their big dives.
We have a possible freeze tonight so I need to run out and cover some of my favorite hummer plants so they don't get nipped!
