The Wrens have arrived... (don't know what species) but they come every year...they have arrived at my house on north side of West Frankfort..
I have a new home in new location for them. Its a camo colored wren house...they are checking it out..will let you know if they take up residency in it. I've got an older home that was theirs last year, so maybe I'll get lucky and get two families..
Tell people to watch out for the black snakes and other snakes for they sure like to eat the bird's eggs. One year, we heard rucus going on with mom and dad outside the house...and when my son investigated further, there was black snake in birdhouse and it had eaten four babies.
The snake is no longer alive. What a horror it must have been for those four baby birds being eaten alive and mom and dad trying so hard to save them but to no avail. Now we keep closer watch on the birds.
