Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/07/2005

Number: 1

Spotted 10 Monarchs on Thursday, April 7th while working out at
the Oasis Creek Ranch (Texas/Oklahoma border, about 15 miles south of
Higgins, Texas...extreme eastern Texas panhandle)...saw 8 more on
Friday, April 8th...On Friday my wife and I watched while one particular
Monarch "wallered" in a patch of Henbit, working the Henbit blossoms
'til no end...was quite a treat. We've had some "high winds" up
here...it seems as if they sometimes "hunker down" and bide their time
until a favorable wind comes along...amazing though, how they are able
to handle the wind. Hopefully will see many more this week...will keep
you posted.
