It was around 2:00 pm. The hummer hovered for a second but did not stop at the feeder, probably because I was just there planting petunias into a container. I jumped inside to hide, but the bird had zoomed north and did not come back for a sip. I feel excited and disappointed at the same time. It was quite cold (high forties)and that hummer could probably really have used a refuel...
