There must have been a large overnight flight of Red-wing Blackbirds into the city. This morning there were at least two dozen redwings in the retention ponds on the north side of Bishop Grandin between St. Mary's Rd. and River Rd. (None there yesterday.) This should make for some interesting battles if they all think they can stay and lay a claim to this desirable area. (I've noticed that redwings have ""adapted"" to freeways, combing the tarmac and edges for bugs stunned by speeding traffic.)
