Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/24/2005

Number: 1

Today we examined 41 milkweed plants in our yard and found 6 eggs and 3 fourth instars. Yesterday we drove the back roads of Kendall, Blanco, Hays, and Comal county and there is and abundance of fresh, blooming milkweed all along the roadside. I see 4-5 faded monarchs each week still coming from Mexico. With the abundance of milkweed and 700+ eggs for each female, surely there are a few who survive and mate.
