Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 04/17/2005

Number: 1

As has happened for several years, our tulips bloomed while we were on our Spring Break. We are pretty sure that the first ones bloomed on Sunday, April 17th. Our tulips had a hard time - some were nipped off by deer early in their growing season. A liberal application of "Deer Away" seemed to really help most of the plants continue to grow and eventually bloom, they just had very short leaves. One group of 5 bulbs untouched by the deer early in the season probably did bloom, however, when we saw them, they were as tall as the blooming plants, but had no flowers. The deer!!
One of our experimental plantings got trampled and the other must have gotten eaten by deer early on, because they never emerged so that we could see them.
