Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/07/2005

Number: 1

I am concerned about the lack of sightings. I have only seen a handful of worn or tattered monarchs this season. Most of them seem to have overwintered here. So far I have released 110 adult, when in past years I have had well over 200 by this time. I notice many eggs layed but they do not seem to develop. The wasps are very prevelent this year also. I am gathering catterpillars at an earlier stage to put them in an enclosure to mature, to protect them from predators. There seems to be numerous males and few females.
