May 8th was a warm sunny day with very little breeze and I was driving near my home and saw an adult monach cross in front of my car going northbound in the cuyahoga valley.
I was a little surprised myself since I hadn't expected to see any for a couple of weeks yet (I usually start seeing them around the last week of May or the first week of June) but I am very sure of the ID. Monarchs have been a favorite of mine since I was a child. I have been looking for more as we have been continuing to have mostly sunny calm days (up to this week anyway) and have yet to see another.
