While part of a "Green Eggs and Sand" workshop walking to the beach to look at shorebirds, I found a pristine monarch hunkered down in the grass behind the houses on the way to Bower's Beach. It had some sand on it, and I didn't have time to pick it up and examine its gender. Wind was NE estimated to be 5-10 mph and gusty. This was 2:20 pm, temperature in the 60s, sunny with scattered clouds. My first monarch sighted, and it was out of town!
