I’ve been researching the dogwood or Cornus Florida over the course of this school year. Around April 19th my flowering dogwood’s leaves finally “leafed out.” For the last five weeks the temperature had been warm and sunny allowing the leaves and flowers to grow, but before the weather was cold, and wet. On the day in which the leaves actually “leafed out,” it was hot and cloudy. The bracts of the flower had appeared two weeks before the leaves actually appeared, and were fully bloomed by the time the leaves had bloomed. Three weeks later the bracts had fallen off and the dogwoods' leaves had tripled their size.
