At 6 pm tonite, a beautiful orange butterfly dropped out of the sky and began nectaring fiercely on the blooming Dame's Rocket. The first official monarch of the season! It's wings were fresh and clean with rich, vibrant deep colors -quite obviously a young one. Quickly, it checked out all available nectar sources. A weak cold front moved thru from the west today making the morning very gloomy, cold and showery. Around 3 pm, the sun came out and the skies began to clear, crating a beautiful evening for butterfly watching! Yes!
