Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 05/11/2005

Number: 1

At long last, the tulips in my Norwich garden have bloomed! They emerged on April 5th, so that makes 36 days from emerge to bloom. The cool weather arrested their growth to the point that I was sure they were bad bulbs and would never bloom.

Over the years, I've noticed that hummingbirds arrive and maple trees flower when tulips first bloom. This is not to say that hummingbirds drink nectar from tulips! However, the heat required for both events seems to be quite similar.
