Rod and Joan Parrott of Port Hope, Ontario - about 100
km east of Toronto on the north shore of Lake Ontario
- received a report from one of their reliable
observers of a migrating monarch that had crossed Lake
Ontario and was feeding on lilac on the Port Hope
waterfront at 3:30 pm.
Rod notes that one usually does not see monarchs until
mid afternoon as it takes this long to cross the lake.
They are often "punky" - very tired/exhausted.
