I had almost given up hope of seeing a spring monarch on the Journey North. I stopped by school briefly yesterday (Sunday) afternoon and saw a single monarch on some verbena. I didn't have access to my net or tagging supplies so I was unable to identify gender. We've had such a rainy, cool May and after reading how low the numbers of monarchs have been I was really surprised by this chance sighting.
