Saw my first monarch today in Carden (Carden Plain is
an Important Bird Area and an alvar - about 1.5 hour
north-west of Toronto near Kirkfield, Ontario), along
Kawartha Lakes Road 35 just north of McNamee. I've
been atlassing quite a bit, and doubt I've missed many
before today. This one I thought looked pretty crisp
(rather than raggedy as I expect migrants might look)
but I couldn't get the binocs on it before it wafted
away.
