Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/09/2005

Number: 1

Janis Miller, horticulture staff, had at first thought there were only 2 monarch larvae in our butterfly garden. Surprise! We've found that as of this date there are 8 large monarch larvae eating the leaves AND flowers of our purple milkweed [Asclepias purpurascens, on display in our new butterfly garden] practically to the ground! Good news for the butterfly, bad news for the plants!
