I saw my first monarch of the spring today at the school butterfly garden.
She was a faded female and laid a few eggs before the excited children
chased her off. After she left I saw a more brightly colored monarch, but
was unable to determine male or female on the fly. These sightings are
about a week behind from the past two years.
