Oriole (1st Bullock's)

Date: 04/02/2005

Number: 1

This is actually the 2nd year of sighting of a Northern Bullocks Oriole at my same tree in our backyard. Middle of April 05 sitting at our Dining table with window open is when I heard His sounds and about 3-4 weeks later noticed both birds. The female Oriole started building the nest May 23, 05 and I noticed both feeding for sure babies June 12th. When I take my Pekingese out in the AM, it is almost like He is saying Hi to Me so I say Hi back always. Am not sure if same nesting family as last year but could be? We are about 300-400 feet from a river and it seems they go there for bugs. My presence keeps at bay the Pinyon Jays and the Magpies which I don't mind, but they upset the Oriole because they land near nest, so when I see these birds, I just walk out and they fly. I do have a waterer in my apple tree in the back so it attracts a few varities. The tree the Orioles are in is quite tall but I don't know it's name but the Orioles seem to love it and eat on some growth at t
