In 2003 we converted our entire urban backyard into a native prairie habitat for wildlife. Among the many types of flowering plants, grasses, vines, shrubs and trees that make up this little sanctuary for birds, butterflies, dragonflies, bees and many more species of wildlife, I added native swamp milkweed specifically for the Monarch butterflies, which they've used in abundance for the next generation. They also have plenty of native blooming plants to feed on and different water sources. It's encouraging to see so much wildlife visit our garden! :)
