At this time, I have a glass enclosure on our porch, with a total of eight monarch cats, just about ready to stop eating and become chrysalis. If all goes well, we will have 8 healthy adult monarch butterflies in 10 days or so. That is the good news.

The bad news is that neither my wife or myself, have seen a single monarch on the wing, so far, this year. The best we can hope for is that the soon to emerge adults will mate successfully, and lay eggs locally, so that the population rebounds over the course of the summer.
