I spotted a very tiny greenish larva with what looked like a black nose near what looked like the remains of an egg on the 23 June 2005 and then it disappeared. Today, 25 June, I found black pepper dropping on that milkweed and upon very intent searching found a distinctly striped monarch caterpillar hidden in the blossoms. It was still very tiny but twice the size it was on the 23rd.
This is the only larva to date but I have lots of eggs.
Either the same or some other Monarch butterflies have been coming almost daily and landing among my plants.
