On a hot, sunny afternoon, I observed a monarch flying that appeared different than usual. I followed it, as it landed in a nearby tree. I zoomed in on the monarch with my 300mm lens and was surprised and pleased to see that it was actually two monarchs attached. I waited for several minutes, until I could get a photo of the two with expanded wings. It was a unique experience. The photo shows one young monarch and one mature.
