This morning we gathered > 50 larvae and >40 eggs at our farm in Monroe Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey. Most larvae are first or second instar. In seven years of raising and releasing Monarchs, this is the most we have ever harvested at one time, and on so few milkweed plants!
Last weekend, we found about 20 larvae and about 30 eggs at another farm in East Windsor, Mercer County. We will be using these larvae and eggs for classes given by the New Jesey Monarch Teachers Network, part of the Educational Information and Resource Center (EIRC) in Cape may County.
