Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 08/29/2005

Number: 1

I live in the country outside of city limits. I discovered hundreds of monarchs randomly flying and choosing a roost for the night in my grove of trees (ash, maple, & Black Hills Spruce).
Weather facts for the day: Sunrise 6:49am Sunset 8:05pm Low temp 53 High temp 84; 0 precipitation, Wind North. I have never seen so many on the property before. I do have a large flower garden. Could that be the attraction? They remain on the property this morning - randomly flying. They were amiable to my photography efforts.
