Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/29/2005

Number: 1

I mountain biked the Bronk unit of the Richard Dorer State Forest just north of Stockton and overlooking the city of Winona starting around 6:00 Monday evening. The best part of the outing was probably the 100 to 200 Monarch butterflies I think I startled out of their roosts in the trees adjacent to the open field full of, I think, Blazing Star flowers that they assumably had been feeding on.Many of their companions were still feeding out in the field.
